Overcome fear of EXTERNAL situations
‘REAL LIFE’ Graduated Exposure Practice
If exposure isn’t working it could be due to one of the following reasons
The situation is maybe not provoking a relevant amount of anxiety.
You may be engaging in some subtle form of avoidance.. You need to be willing to tolerate some anxiety – ‘hoping’ you don’t panic at ALL during exposure defeats the objective.
You ‘escape’ before the anxiety level drops.
The exposure hasn’t been REPEATED enough over time You need commitment to the practice. It will not be as effective if it is done in a haphazard way or infrequently
You don’t stick to the Fear Hierarchy. Some people try too much too soon and then they give up!
