“But these thoughts feel worse than a song stuck in my head!”

Your anxious thoughts may be more worrying than the lyrics of a song but that doesn’t change the fact that the PROCESS is the same.

‘Your’ thought is a problem in ONE sense only – that you take it more seriously than you would some less worrying thought. You attach more IMPORTANCE to the ’meaning’ of the thought.

So in that way it will be harder to ‘see through it’.

But the underlying process that makes it hard for us to get a song out of our heads is exactly the SAME process that is making it hard for you to get THESE thoughts out of your head.

When you start to realise that this is true you can start to rectify the ‘mistake’.
