If you feel too overwhelmed to face a situation in one go you may want to break it down into smaller steps.
For instance, you may have a fear of having a panic attack in the Shopping Centre and the thought of going through the entire Shopping Centre on your own may seem overwhelming.
In this case break the situation down into more manageable steps.
